Naruto vs Pain IS bad animation.

This fits with One Piece especially Luffy's Gear 5. Naruto playing whack-a-mole with Pain or Pain's Road-Runneresque running didn't make sense in Naruto.

Watch Sasuke vs Orochimaru in the chuunin forest. That's what that animation should have been like. Naruto vs Sasuke at the valley of the end, got a little crazy, no lie. But not as bad as Pain. Guess it doesn't matter with binge watchers; you just want to see things on a screen.

Yet it seems i know more than you because pain vs naruto had decent animation most of the time and very shit seconds every where

Looking at the chapter (1044) , they really didn't have much to work with.

Personally, i'd have made 2 chapters into one episode to improve the pacing since it was so special.

The next one will show some of the funniest attacks:

Ragnaraku(or rather, the way Luffy responds to it)

And it's going to be focused solely on Luffy vs Kaido instead of cutting away to make sure several characters are OK.

The constant zooming and switching scenes every millisecond, gave me epilepsy.

Dissappointed with the reveal of gear 5 after years of waiting. Also why do i see their eyes trailing behind everywhere during the gear 5 fight, when it never happens during other fights...

I was expecting an epic well animated fight and an epic gear 5 reveal. But not seizure inducing zooming tom and jerry style. Also luffy making unnecessary rubber moves which make no sense at all. Course he is rubber, but that doesn't mean you have to run up to kaido like a cliche cartoon, or do windmills in the air for no obvious reason.

PS: and i don't even have epilepsy, but after this episode everyone does

Buddy you're not even paying attention and you're down here bitching? That nonsensical fighting isn't just animation... it's his power. Super necessary.

The cartoonish stuff may be intended, like other posts are telling you, but I think it would have come across better without all the zooming and switching scenes, like you say. The flashing lights and reversing the colors is stupid and shows the reason breaking the fourth wall is so rarely used to great effect.

The ability itself is great though. It actually had me wanting more scenes where Luffy says "I've got a great idea!" in his scheming voice, like releasing all the animal-Luffys out of Big Mom's wedding cake, since those scenes showed Luffy's creativity and desire for battle-imagination.

I think the intent was to show how easy it is for him to do anything he wants. The freedom. And within that freedom you have no fear of losing, which is probably a con more than a pro, since he's using a ton of energy on windmilling and running in place just because he's got the giggling fits. If the consequences of using this aren't pretty bad, I'll be a bit disappointed, but if he gets close to losing because he's having too much fun, I think that'll fit pretty great as a punishment for the stupid stuff.

It was perfect, one of the best episodes in one piece ever for me. the music, the art, the story reveals. besides that the style is part of the story, part of luffys devil fruit power

That's how Toon Force works. Even Goku's Kame Hame Ha will just bounce off no matter how powerful it is... Even if the power can destroy the entire Universe, Toon Force defies all that logic.

Yeah it's really been a while since One Piece last got an ED, it seems special episode is special all the way to the end lol.

Also while I was on break and didn't got to watch G5 on the day the episode occured, I heard everyone posting how it was so disappointing and began comparing it with Goku's Ultra Instinct and Naruto's Baryon Mode and how it was much better than the "over-hyped G5" I mean like those transformations got their own excitement and hype but this is different, I guess some people thought that the G5 is like Luffy will be all serious and this super cool badass type of guy Super Saiyan or something I dunno lol.
